(1.474 MB) Consisting of 28 articles selected from the State Historical Society of North Dakota's journal, the Anthology serves as a significant source of some of the best writing available on history of the state.
In addition to the Anthology, brief histories are available on the following topics:
Summary History of North Dakota. A brief historical overview of the state up to 1989. A short history of North Dakota is also available through the American Memories Project at the Library of Congress site.
Chronology of North Dakota History. A chronological listing of events in North Dakota's history up to 1989.
North Dakota Governors. An on-line version of the North Dakota Governors traveling exhibit. Biographical sketches of the ten governors of Dakota Territory and thirty governors of North Dakota.
Lewis and Clark in North Dakota. Includes links to the most significant web sites providing information on Lewis and Clark era sites in the state and on the explorers' activities.
Sakakawea. Sakakawea (also spelled Sacagawea) is one of the most recognized members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, joining them following their winter stay near the Mandan villages. A statue recognizing Sakakawea is prominently displayed on the North Dakota Capitol grounds and she is soon to be recognized in Statuary Hall in the United States Capitol.
Visit the NatureShift! interactive history component. NatureShift! is a cooperative project of the Grand Forks Public School District #1 and the Dakota Science Center with a number of other North Dakota partners, including the State Historical Society of North Dakota. It is funded through the U.S. Department of Education Technology Innovation Challenge Grant Program. Visit NatureShift! for information on a variety of topics.
